In this video, I take a dive into the Speedmaster Big Block Mopar Cylinder Heads, a budget-friendly option for your engine builds. I walk you through the process of clearancing the pushrod holes with a die grinder to fit a low deck engine, as well as cleaning up the bowl areas and smoothing out the steps inside the exhaust ports to improve airflow and performance. While these heads are a popular choice due to their low cost, there are some things you should know before you commit: Cost (Bare): Typically around $1,150 USD, but you can snag them for under $1,000 during Black Friday Sales. Speedmaster Website: https://www.speedmaster79.com Buyer Beware: Valves: These heads come with two different length valves, which is something you’ll need to address. Springs & Hardware: The included springs and hardware are generally low quality and will need to be replaced if you're after better performance. Rocker Arms: Special rocker arms are required for proper fitment, which can increase the overall cost of using these heads. Core Shift: There’s also some noted core shift in the casting around the seat areas, so keep an eye on that for any potential installation issues. These heads are not the best choice for high-performance, max-effort builds, but they can be a great inexpensive option for mid-level or entry-level builds where cost is a major factor.
