In pivotal Game 5 of the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals, Marcus Camby completely altered the course of the game as the New York Knicks defeated the Indiana Pacers 101-94 to take a 3-2 series lead. Camby came off the bench to score 21 points, grab 13 rebounds, and block 6 shots, while hitting 6-9 from the floor and 9-13 from the free throw line. In the 33 minutes Camby was on the court, the Knicks outscored the Pacers by 20. When Camby was on the bench, Indiana outscored New York by 13. After arriving in NY in an offseason trade that sent Charles Oakley to Toronto, the 25-year old Camby struggled while receiving limited playing time for much of the regular season. Fortunately for the Knicks, Camby came alive in the playoffs - particularly the Conference Finals where his quickness, length and athleticism completely caught the Pacers' slower and more rugged frontline off-guard. Over the final 4 games of the series, Camby would put up averages of 18.8 pts, 11.8 reb, and 3.3 blk in a reserve role. Two nights later the Knicks would defeat the Pacers in Game 6 to become the first #8-seed to advance to the NBA Finals.
