Refugio Laguna Negra (Italia) to Colonia Suiza. Day 3 of a 3 day through hike in Nahuel Huapi National Park, Bariloche - Northern Patagonia, Argentina. Join us on our exhilarating 3 day through hike in Northern Patagonia, in Argentina's Nahuel Huapi National Park, Bariloche. We hike between Refugio Laguna Negra (Italia) and Colonia Suiza, along the tranquil Arroyo Goye 'Stream'. Scree experience, fitness and good boots are required for this hike. If in doubt hire a guide. If you watched Top Gear’s South American Special you may recall the 3 lads stopping lakeside as they left Bariloche – the mountains they were looking at across the lake were the ones we hiked:) We were hiking at the end of the Season from 30 March - 01 April and the weather was starting to change. It was getting noticeably cooler each day. The spectacular traverse on day 2 becomes more difficult, including the mother of all scree slopes!!!. From April - the National Park wisely suggests the services of a guide off-season. This circuit walk is a great introduction to hiking in Patagonia. The views across into the Chilean Andes and the volcanoes is simply spectacular. It is a short 2 1/2 hour flight from Buenos Aires. We highly recommend it. It’s become one of our all-time favorite hikes!!! High praise indeed.
