Japan Walking Tour: One of Tokyo’s best-kept secrets, and truly a hidden gem. Take a relaxing slow walk on a sunny day through Todoroki Valley along the Yazawa River in the Setagaya ward of Tokyo, Japan. With rain from the night before still fresh on the serene forest ground, wander through the gates of Todoroki Fudo Temple, and feel the solitude of the ancient Heian era temple grounds. Past the Japanese temple is the umbrella of a garden cafe selling sweets. Slowly stroll along a walking trail of stone paths and wooden footbridges to discover a peaceful Japanese shrine, and statues of a monk and Guanyin. Continue the walking tour in the green valley to see bamboo groves, and lush greenery that line the small river. The nearest station is Todoroki Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line. Todoroki Station is about 20 minutes from Shibuya. Enjoy the relaxing ambient sounds of the babbling river, gentle waterfalls, springs, birds and natural fauna of the woods. All audio is recorded at the actual location. Todoroki Valley is a serene natural oasis located in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. This scenic valley features lush greenery and the peaceful Yazawa River, creating a cool, refreshing environment ideal for leisurely strolls. Well-maintained walking paths, bridges, and stepping stones enhance the experience, making it a popular spot for nature lovers. The valley is easily accessible, being just a short walk from Todoroki Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line. The waterfall in Todoroki Valley is renowned as Fudo’s riken(wisdom sword) waterfall. Some say the name “Todoroki” came from the word “todoroku(resound)” referring to the roaring sound of the waterfall. Take a break at Setsugekka, an old sweetshop in the park famous for kuzu mochi rice cakes. The surrounding greenery will make you forget you’re just minutes away from central Tokyo. Enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring, cool weather in summer, and autumn leaves in fall. In addition to its natural beauty, Todoroki Valley is home to the Todoroki Fudoson Temple, a small Buddhist temple dedicated to Fudo Myoo, complete with a waterfall used for ritual purification. Nearby, a traditional Japanese garden adds to the cultural charm with its stone lanterns and koi ponds. With free admission and seasonal appeal, especially during spring cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, Todoroki Valley provides a peaceful retreat for both locals and tourists seeking a moment of tranquility within Tokyo. This first-person perspective walking travel video is experimental, and is my first time using the DJI Osmo Mobile 3. I am just learning how to properly shoot with it, and thinking about how to take advantage of using a gimbal when creating my climbing videos.
