Marking the tip for a rhinoplasty represents one of the first steps in the rhinoplasty surgical procedure. Most patients desiring a rhinoplasty desires some degree of additional tip definition. The idea of beauty normally involves a fine, sculpted tip with 2 tip defining points that are approximately 2 to 3 mm apart. During the rhinoplasty surgical procedure, the first step is to mark the future tip defining points. This video explains how the tip is marked, and how to transfer the markings to the underlying cartilages with methylene blue. Marking the tip allows visualization of the final rhinoplasty result. This technique was taught to me by Dr. Teoman Dogan (Teo Rhinoplasty). The marking technique was used by me and other procedures, specifically otoplasty. Dr. Teo taught me how the same technique can be used to visualize the tip defining points at the end of a rhinoplasty procedure.
