Hi everyone, In today's lecture, I cover the Physical Symbol System Hypothesis, and discuss examples of such systems drawn from Clark (2014). I end the lecture by discussing John Searle's Chinese Room thought-experiment as a response to the core claims of Computationalism and the Physical Symbol System Hypothesis. Newell and Simon trained their General Problem Solver to solve the Foxes and Chickens problem. These brain-teasers are similar to the Fox and Chickens problem I mentioned in this lecture.
