Day two for JBS20 & all is well! We're even getting some improved glimpses of the little one! Official announcement from JB Sands Wetland Center: "After much anticipation, we are happy to announce that the JBS Wetland eagles have a baby on board (and a bun in the oven)! 🦅 Please welcome JBS 20, our 20th eaglet to hatch since we began monitoring our breeding pair. We are on watch for the second egg to hatch. The chick hatched about 7:43 Friday morning, as Mom carefully maneuvered around it and loudly vocalized a birth announcement. About 9:08 a.m., Dad flew in to meet his offspring and relieve Mom of nursery duty. With both parents attending, the chick got a good meal about 2:28 p.m. The eggs were laid on Dec. 18 and 21. Eagle eggs usually hatch after about 35-38 days of incubation by both parents. Unlike with incubation, the chicks are on their own during a complex, strenuous hatching process that usually takes one to two days."
