At REMOTE Immersion Chapada dos Veadeiros, Croatian award-winning architect Marko Brajovic took us on an emotional journey through his life and work, inviting reflection on how we inhabit the planet — and how architecture can inspire reconnection, dialogue, change, and an awakening of the senses. “Architecture is not something that protects us or separates us from nature — it connects us to it. It’s about relationships. It’s like a portal that creates a dialogue between me, my body, and the ecosystem.” Guided by sensory memories and a deep respect for the natural world, Marko explores how places shape people and how architecture can become a bridge between culture and nature itself. Part of his work in architecture is based on biomimicry, the practice of designing buildings by mimicking natural processes, forms, and systems found in nature to create sustainable and efficient structures. The vibrant biomes of Brazil, the country he has called home for more than two decades, provide the backdrop for his creativity and inspiration — from immersive experiences in Indigenous dwellings to his designs for five-star lodges deep in the jungle.
