Influenced by his father, who runs an antiques dealer specializing in Western antiques, he developed his "eye for quality" from an early age. After being captivated by a cup of coffee he had in high school, he began his own research. After entering the Department of Instrumental Music at the Kunitachi College of Music, he majored in brass instruments while mastering all wind and percussion instruments by the time of graduation. After graduating from university, he worked as a musician, mainly in jazz, but in 2007 he opened "Ji ten ten", a coffee shop in Ginza that offers the finest drip coffee and Western antiques (now closed due to the redevelopment of Ginza 6-chome). It became a popular shop after being featured in the essay "The Story of Ginza's Coffee Shops" by writer Tomomi Muramatsu. Currently, as a coffee expert, he is active in a wide range of activities, including cafe production, purchasing/appraisal of coffee beans, roasting, brewing, and teaching seminars for professionals.
