As we prepare for the Switch 2 reveal in a few days, I was reminded of the hype around the GameCube at Spaceworld 2000 (a Nintendo trade event). I remember thinking that the Zelda and Metroid footage was the most amazing thing I'd seen in video games at that point (even though Metroid Prime wasn't quite like that, and the Zelda scene set people's expectations way off for Wind Waker (incredible game, though), only for a "realistic Zelda" to be realized at the end of the GameCube's life cycle instead of the start of it, in Twilight Princess (which would be a Wii launch game). I must've watched the Zelda and Metroid footage a hundred times or more. It was truly a magical time. Since there doesn't appear to be high-quality footage of the entire trailer, I recreated it from a couple different sources.
