Fitting the Delphin roof box to steel roof bars is helped by special grippers in the base sliders that help stop the U bolts from falling back onto the car roof. This allows you to insert all four U bolts first then attach all eight wing nuts without having to hold the U bolt each time. If you are fitting the KAMEI Delphin 340 to aluminium aerobars, you will need a T-track adapter that is sold separately. This adapter (KM52003/KM52004) is extremely easy to fit. The depth of the overlap between the lid and the base, and the accuracy of the moulding (both necessary for waterproofing), combined with the pressure put on this seal when the boxes are stacked in warehouses, mean that extra effort may be required to open the box the first time. Here’s how to do this; Once the carton is open, bend your knees and remove the roof box. Lay the carton on the floor and place the roof box on top of the carton. This will avoid scratching the roof box. Unlock both locks – Insert the keys, turning both locks 45 degrees until they “pop” out. One side at a time, lift the lid over the red catches. Using two hands, open the box. It’s easier to shut the box before lifting onto the roof. Make sure to bend your knees when picking the box up, alternately this can be done by two people. Now slide the box onto the bars. Adjust the base sliders. Once unlocked, one side at a time, lift the lid over the red catches. Using two hands, open the box. You may find it helpful to stand on the door sill. You will now need the fitting kit provided. Insert all four u-bolts and attach the wing nuts loosely. Position the box accordingly. Now tighten each wing nut on all four u-bolts until hand tight. Attach each u-bolt end cover. Fit both luggage straps. A roof box can make easy work of a car boot load. You can also fit soft items on top of your luggage. Now secure your luggage using the luggage straps. Always make sure both red tabs are engaged and visible before locking.
