On the second day of our trip we left rainy and cloudy Aberdeenshire and drove up to Moray to soak up some sun. Our first stop was Elgin and we walked around a little and visited the local museum there. Then we continued on to Burghead to see a Medieval Pictish promontory fort and spend some time by the sea. Then we went to explore nearby coastal caves, the most famous of which is Sculptor's Cave, where they found Bronze and Iron Age burials and Covesea Ware pottery. Exploring the big and little caves was so much fun, possibly my favourite part of the day. Lastly, as the sun started to go down, we arrived at Duffus Castle, which is a very unique looking ruin. One of its towers collapsed and lies a little sideways (and yet people continued to live there back in the day ... 😲) After that, at last, we settled into our airbnb accommodation in Forres.
