Here's a brief account of the 5 days in total the process took to cross the caspian sea. This route is notoriously difficult and frustrating - there is absolutely no schedule and very little information available about it. I've wanted to do it for years though, so I just went to the port on the day I wanted to go and asked about buying a ticket which was $70. Then the waiting began - 40 hours stuck in the port and then another two days at anchor whilst we waited for some bad weather to pass. and I ran into a spot of immigration bother at the azerbaijan border.
