Little bird on my window - an old Irish song

This old Irish song over many years has been sung in the U.S.A. by grandparents and in elementary schools there. You will see on my video I have added a little whistling interlude; a snatch of "Wiegenlied" by Johannes Brahms it just arose when practicing and felt as if it was always there. Interestingly I have seen the basic tune of this song described as a German folk tune. Recent research suggests this melody did indeed come from Germany ‘Kommt ein Vogel geflogen’ / ‘A Bird Comes A-flying’ as do many nursery rhymes and childrens’ songs sung in the English language.
