It's a great guitar, especially for beginners but it's clearly made to a budget. Out of the box the setup wasn't great - the action was very high and the intonation was off, and the pickups lacked some clarity. However just how much improvement can we get from a simple set up and some basic modifications? We sent this Starcaster off for a full setup and fret level, and also swapped out the standard pickups for some Bare Knuckle True Grit 6, upgraded the jack socket, volume and tone pots, and also coil split the bridge humbucker for some extra versatility tone wise. In this video I show you a before and after so you can compare the sound of the new setup and Bare Knuckle pickups compared to the standard Squier Starcaster pickups.
