Hot bonus room? Ac can’t keep up? Spray foam the duct work before and after.

This bonus room was well insulated in 6-7” of open cell foam but the brand new AC could not keep up. The solution we found was spray foam the duct work in 2” of closed cell foam. On a 95 degree day at 5pm the system was set to 75 and the room was 77 with air coming out of the vent at 73 degrees. We found that the duct work was hot, and blowing cold air through hot pipes just warmed the air. In contrast after spray foaming the duct work with 2” of spray foam. The unit was set on 75, with an outside temp of 97. We went upstairs at the same time of day and the unit wasn’t even running! After spray foaming the duct work the unit runs a total of 15-20min per hour vs running non stop during the heat of the day. #sprayfoam #sprayfoaminsulation #hvac #home #homerenovation
