Originally recorded January 10, 2025. It's a wireless mouse! But not your regular, run-of-the-mill one. This is VINTAGE, probably from around 1998. This one hooks up via PS/2, which was common in that era. But, it's got the coolest receiver, not only with a red AND green light, but an "antenna" looking thing, which isn't an antenna at all, it's ANOTHER light, that flickers in tandem with the green one, when any wireless transmission is taking place. This mouse was a free giveaway for signing up with Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance, which the wif's job was offering at the time. It has no markings, no brand name, nothing, so I just call it "Empire". This of course has succumbed to yellowing over the years, which I find interesting, considering it was always tucked away within the confines of a desk, and has never had sunlight (UV) shine directly on it. I used to use this mouse in our old apartment, in the next room (try that today!). The computer was connected to the CRT TV via an S-Video cable, and I ran an audio cable as well, which allowed usage of the computer from the living room, albeit with a low-resolution display. We used it back then, and even watch some low-res videos that way here and there. Great stuff, this has those little touches you just won't see today. Namely, the light that flickers upon transmission; you hardly even get a hard drive access light today. This mouse came with a driver CD, which was erroneously printed as "dervers", and so, from that moment on, I have always called drivers "dervers".
