Introduction to the Bozeman Unified Development Code (UDC)

We all hear a lot about the Bozeman UDC and know conceptually that the city is changing it, but what actually is the UDC? What is actually being changed about it, and why? Over the coming weeks and months, we at The Gallatin Valley Sentinel have a series of online and in-person events planned to inform first on what the UDC is and then to put forward real solutions that will help to shape the future and functionality of our community. In this first part of the series, we invited land-use expert, Andrew Thomas, to take a look at Bozeman’s UDC and to break down the major themes and impacts of these policies. Andrew Thomas, J.D., Ph.D., is an academic and attorney that has practiced in areas of property law, land use, and policy consultant. He has a Master’s and Ph.D. in political science, emphasizing areas of public policy administration and political behavior.
