A hazardous rainy commute to work. Don't worry, my mom was the one driving so I was able to take footage here lol. Skies darkened as we headed north on the 680 and then rain finally starts falling as soon as we approached Pleasanton, CA. We arrived to work safely. It's actually nice to see this weather pattern since we had a lull in the rain and we need all the rain and snow we could get during the heart of our rainy season around this time... (Footage taken Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026 around Pleasanton, CA.) ***Weather scenario: The heaviest rain, thunder and hail from Tuesday morning’s cold front have pushed thru the Bay Area as of noon after dropping a quarter-to three-quarters of an inch of rain across much of the region, with parts of Marin County and the East Bay hills receiving an inch. Cold air was still pouring in aloft, keeping the atmosphere unstable enough to trigger isolated, pulse-like showers thru the afternoon and evening... Then comes the cold after the frontal passage: The freezing level was to drop to about 2000 feet by Tuesday evening. Snow was to continue to accumulate along the higher peaks around the Bay Area. Frigid air from the Gulf of Alaska was spilling into California, moving over relatively warmer Pacific Ocean waters on its way to the coast. This temperature differential between the sea and air above has generated the rapid rising motion in the lower atmosphere necessary for storm cells. With the perfect ingredients in place, the region was expected to wake up the very next morning with snow covering the higher peaks around the Bay Area, including the Santa Cruz Mountains and Mt. Diablo. Bundle up if you go outside around this time. It's gonna look and feel like Tahoe outside!
