To warm or not to warm....that is the quandary. As a native Wisconsinite, Jenny has a lifetime of experience on the importance of keeping all your essential bits warm- especially during subzero temps. In this episode - she breaks down how warming up your machine tool may be the the missing component in your mission for accuracy and repeatability. Don't have the luxury of working in a heated shop? No worries - we have been there. Jenny also covers some of those mysteries like coolant/lube maintenance during a deep freeze as well as how to run a spindle warmup program on an encoder-less machine while keeping all of your digits in tact. You are not going to find most of these tips in your textbooks or machine manual - so if you are looking for a few out-of-the-box pointers - you are welcome to drop by the shop, warm up a spell and hopefully enjoy a new take on how to get your equipment primed up for your next big job. Note from Jenny: My management team (Clutch & Diesel) have just thoroughly berated me for forgetting to mention another one of my favorite tips while shooting this video. If you need to 'winterize' your machine tool because it is going to bit sitting in an out shed over the chilly season - you may also want to snag a can of BoeShield. Spray this magical potion all over your machine table as well as the castings (and toolholders if they are being stored with the machine). This stuff is boss - and it will save you a lot of rust removal time in the spring, as condensation is not always kind to your ball screw driven friends during the seasonal change. https://boeshield.com/ *I am not sponsored by Boeing - I just happen to REALLY love this stuff! It works great on machine tools - as well as the undercarriage of your vehicle if you happen to spend half the year driving on road salt like we do. Clutch would also like me to remind you that her friends at the Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project have a lot of furry companions that are looking for a home - and they do transport to multiple northern regions. Please save a dog from Texas, so that they do not have to live through the disappointment of becoming a Cowboys fan. ;) https://atlantatexasareaspayneuterpro...
