Caesar Salad is probably my all time favorite salad. The fist time I ever had one was in a Daytona Beach restaurant while taking a boat south to Ft Lauderdale in 1977. I decided right then and there to learn the recipe! Upon returning home the following Spring, one evening I had a late supper at Isle of Capri Restaurant in Virginia Beach. I ordered the Caesar Salad. The waiter rolled up a little cart beside my table. He the prepared the salad right there. Tableside! It was so cool to watch the way it was done. I was 26 years old and had just moved into a brand new apartment. When buying the furniture, I saw a cool wooden cart on wheels. It was just the perfect thing to roll up to the table for preparing a fresh Caesar Salad! So, I brought it home. Many Caesars were made tableside at home for the next 30 years. When I sold the house I had built to raise our family in, sadly, I sold that cart in a yard sale. So I make Caesar Salad now on the counter beside the table.
