Man arrested under Florida's Halo Law

More than a year after Florida enacted its HALO Law, several Palm Beach County men have been arrested under the statute—including a case that Palm Beach Police say is a departmental first. According to investigators, 35-year-old Nicholas Foster pulled up behind a police cruiser during a traffic stop on January 14. Officers say Foster got out of his vehicle and walked toward the scene even after receiving “multiple warnings” to stop. He was taken into custody and charged under the HALO law, which requires people to keep a 25foot distance from on-duty first responders actively working.
