Hand cutting the teeth on a Japanese feather file known as yasuri. The file blank was re-forged from old file steel, rough ground, and shaped with file by hand. Hand cutting a file is almost unicorn knowledge these days! I haven't cut more than a dozen files at this point so I have a lot of room for improvement, but even so am able to produce a file that would cut properly if hardened. There are so many small details that determine success or failure, such as how the chisel is sharpened and how the file blank sits on the lead pad, how the hammer strikes the chisel.
