A piece in the New Statesman argued that the Harry Potter author has become a “liberal pariah” following tweets about the transgender debate. Rowling, who is a firm believer of biological sex, refuses to acknowledge preferred pronouns, tweeting: “I’ll happily do two years in prison if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex.” Fans have slammed the article calling it “misogynistic” and “unhinged”.
