3 Minute Water and Waste Water Video Tutorials by AET For more information or comments contact us here: https://www.aqua-equip.com/ Water testing equipment here: https://www.aqua-equip.com/parts/ The Tampa Bay seawater desalination plant is a state of the art facility and produces up to 25MGD drinking water per day. The facility uses different treatment steps such as screen bars, sedimentation tanks with lamella clarifiers, earth filter and cartridge filter as well as reverse osmosis. The water entering the desal plant flows at first trough a power plant. The power plant discharges the seawater then to the desalination plant. The screen bars remove debris from the saltwater. In the sedimentation tank particles are first clumped together using coagulation and flocculation and then settled down. By installing lamella clarifiers modules also known as tube settlers the surface area of the sedimentation tank is increased. Lamella clarifiers increase the settling surface up to 10 times. Afterwards in the earth filters and cartridge filters fine particles are sift out. In the final step minerals are removed using reverse osmosis. Fresh water and seawater are separated trough a semi-permeable membrane and by applying pressure on the saltwater side the water molecules are pushed to the freshwater side leaving the salts and minerals behind. The last process of the seawater desal plant is chemical dosing and blending with potable water before it is provided to the consumers in Tampa Bay.
