I know what’s going on in your head when you read these two sinful words “Porky Fat”!!! Unbelievable, unthinkable and a thousand “No”s. It is definitely not for the so called health conscious people like “me”. Haha, that would be my reaction years ago, and I wouldn’t blame you if you feel like the same way too. However, I have changed. After so many years of rejecting it ( because of the fear of its bad effect on health ), recent research shows that it’s not as bad as what I used to think it is. So, if you have a change of heart just like me, give this a try; who knows, you may learn to like this recipe too. Haha! Salted Five Spice Pumpkin with Fried Porky Fat Ingredients: Half a pumpkin skin removed, cube it Some pork fat cut into small pieces 100g minced meat 1 tsp minced garlic 1/2 tsp five spice powder Salt according to taste Sugar according to taste(optional ) Some stock or water Some oil Fry the pork fat with some oil (not too much oil as the pork pat will produce its own oil) till turn golden brown. Scoop out. Fry the pumpkin for a while, then add the garlic and keep frying till it’s fragrant. Add the minced meat, followed by five spice powder and salt (sugar if needed). Add stock or water, cover to cook till the pumpkin paste is soften (if you like it really soft and mushy, add more stock or water, then cover to cook longer).
