Summer Touring 2024 - Kaido Racer in Canada. “Oh MY! 街道レーサー” The wildest year of kaido racers at Summer Touring ever. Over the last few years, the touring events organized by Rudeboy Custom in Vancouver, BC, have brought the captivating world of kaido racers to the PNW region of North America. The Pacific Northwest (PNW) Summer Touring 2024 was once again an unforgettable experience. Enthusiasts from all over the continent and beyond came together for this remarkable gathering. Now in its third summer iteration and the sixth event overall, this year's tour showcased an impressive array of vehicles, reflecting the growing community, the dedication to the craft of building a kaido racer, and a deep respect for the culture it's rooted in. The event truly celebrated the creativity, skill, and passion that defines this unique automotive art form. Kaido racers, with their roots in Japan, have quickly made a name for themselves across North America. This automotive movement is characterized by vintage cars transformed with eye-catching modifications, from aggressive body kits to vibrant paint schemes, drawing inspiration from various Japanese subcultures. Reflecting a rebellious and artistic spirit, these cars stand out as symbols of individuality. As the kaido racer community continues to grow, the touring events hosted by Rudeboy Custom have been providing a forum for enthusiasts to connect and celebrate this bold and expressive car culture. Not to mention this event was the grand unveiling of our new spec on our MX73 Cressida team car, fresh with all-new aero, an interior redesign, manual transmission swap, two-day-old paint and takeyari exhaust (+ some epic musical horns). We will have a video on the build process of this car and dive deeper into the details in the future. This year’s tour was a resounding success, marked by an impressive turnout of kaido racers in all different styles that surpassed previous events in both number and craftsmanship. The growing enthusiasm and deeper understanding of kaido racers, and the history behind them, was showcased on full display, with a significantly larger crowd of participants showcasing their creations. The variety of styles and designs was nothing short of extraordinary, embodying the true spirit of the kaido racer movement. This summer's tour had a few themes that stood out to us. First and foremost; it was the first year we have seen silhouette builds at a touring event. It was also the most Nissan Z cars we had seen at once (thanks to groups like High Fever and Fantasy Works). Lastly; this event had the most "completed" cars we had seen so far. I asked Brian Baker, the creator of www.kaidoracer.com and member of Team High Fever, if he would write a few words summarizing the event and this is what he shared: "This year’s PNW Summer Touring brought out even more cars than last year. With each year the cars are styled closer to the way Japanese kaido racers are built. Thinking back through the years of these PNW Summer Tourings is reminiscent of reading the older Tuning Car Maximum yearbooks from the 1980s. Each year you can see the style slowly progress similar to that of each of those yearbooks. Overall it was another huge success for the Pacific Northwest kaido racer scene."
