Innovative Robot Handling System for Long Aluminium Extrustion Profiles

At Van Dulst Techniek and MPS, we developed an advanced robot loading system with 3D Vision technology. Handling long aluminium extrusion profiles automatically is one of the most challenging tasks in industrial automation. Profiles inside crates are rarely perfectly positioned — they can overlap, tilt, or slide underneath each other. We solved this problem. Using intelligent vision software and top-down vacuum handling, the system analyses each layer in the crate, determines the optimal picking sequence, and automatically calculates the required grip positions and rotations. The robot then picks the profiles one by one and places them precisely onto the machine infeed.
