Joaquin Murrieta's story is one for the ages. Fiercely compelling and epically woven, Bring Me the Head of Joaquin Murrieta details the bloody saga of the Latino outlaw. In myth, he embarked on a noble career as a rebel, fighting against injustice in the rough-and-tumble Wild West. However, though the "Robin Hood of El Dorado" remains a folk hero to many, his extraordinarily dramatic and violent saga has been obscured by layers upon layers of legend--until now. Through meticulous research and never-before-told stories of the bloody trail Murrieta and his band left in their wake, Bring Me the Head of Joaquin Murrieta chronicles their infamous escapades in this brilliant examination of the American story. Little known is that Joaquin's lieutenant, Bernardino "Three Fingered Jack" Garcia, lived in Mill Valley, where he was married to the widow of John Reed, and ran her cattle ranch and the Old Mill. John Boessenecker, a Mill Valley native, trial lawyer, and former police officer, is considered one of the leading authorities on crime and law enforcement in the Old West. Since 1968 he has published dozens of magazine articles about violence on the frontier. He is the award-winning author of thirteen books, including the New York Times best seller, Texas Ranger. His 2020 book, Ride the Devil's Herd, was the basis for the popular Netflix series Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War. In 2011 and 2013, True West magazine named Boessenecker Best Nonfiction Writer. He received a prestigious Spur award from Western Writers of America and Best Book award from Westerners International. He has appeared frequently as a historical commentator on PBS, The History Channel, A&E, Netflix, and other media.
