Before you start any behaviour work with your dog, it's vital to be prepared. I'm not talking about physical items like leads and treat bags, but a 'virtual toolkit' of strategies and knowledge that will help you handle any situation that comes your way. Having this toolkit ready means that when things happen on a walk, you'll feel prepared and know exactly how to respond. In this video, I'll walk you through the essential items every dog owner should have in their toolkit, including: Your dog's favourite calming and high-energy games. How to identify and use a 'de-escalation cue'. How to use your dog's easiest trick as a 'test cue' to see if they're ready for training. How to find your dog's safe space and most restorative walk. A script for dealing with well-meaning strangers. Behaviour training can be complex and sometimes feel lonely or frustrating. If you feel you need more support, I'm here for you. I offer private sessions where we can build a plan specifically for you and your dog. Please check the information below to find out more.
