Begin by doing a few slalom turns to warm up, so that you are ready for back-to-back turns. The goal of this drill is to allow riders to corner faster and change the exit lines coming out of tight turns by starting the turn earlier with the use of a Pre-Turn. Lots more info and trail examples online. ⭐️ Pro-Tip: Make sure you begin the movement using footwork to support the Pre-Turn, not the turn you are setting up for. It's not intuitive to turn in the opposite direction of an upcoming turn! ⚠️ Pro-Tip: Try to avoid having too much space between your Pre-Turn and actual turn. What we mean is that these turns should 'feel linked'. This is how you can fine-tune your cone setup. The Pre-Turn in this instance often happens further from the turn than riders think. How far this happens before the turn is a function of rider speed. You will need to play around a bit to get set up properly, but if you start with the pre-turn about 7-10 paces from the actual turn, you will be pretty close in most instances.
