During a night of highlight-reel worthy dunks and crowd-pleasing moves, it was Smith’s four-point play with four minutes left that was the dagger for No. 2 Rainier Beach. The play gave the Vikings a 68-50 lead over No. 1 Bellevue and Rainier Beach went on to a 70-56 win, defending its Sea-King 3A tournament title. “I felt like it was going to go in, it felt good,” said Smith, who had 17 points, 12 assists and six rebounds. Smith’s shot was far from the only play that had the sell-out crowd at Bellevue College buzzing. Back-to-back dunks by Murray and Kevin Porter late in the third quarter pushed the Vikings’ lead to double digits and brought the crowd to its feet Those dunks were the start of Rainier Beach’s push, and Bellevue (22-3) wasn’t able to keep it close thanks to suffocating defense from the Vikings (22-2). Murray led all scorers with 22 points, also grabbing 16 rebounds and dishing out nine assists. Gunther Klimes had 13 points for Bellevue. Both teams play next week in the regional round against to-be-determined teams. “The bottom line is we’re still the champs until somebody knocks us off,” Rainier Beach coach Mike Bethea said. “The bottom line is we’re focused on just getting better each game. That’s what we’re doing, and that’s what I’m concentrating on.” **************************************************** RAINIER BEACH: Head Coach - Mike Bethea **************************************************** 0 Shadeed Shabazz 12 G 3 Ivy Smith 12 G 4 Vincenzo Reiser 12 F 5 DeJonte Murray 12 G/F 11 DaVonte Bolton 11 G 12 Phillip White 11 C 15 Kahlil Shabazz 10 G 20 Jeffrey Belmonte 12 G 24 Kevin Porter 9 F/C 35 Marquis Gurske 11 F 42 Dupree Daily 12 G/F 55 Brandon Barnes 11 C ****************************************************************** BELLEVUE WOLVERINES - Head Coach: Chris O’Connor ****************************************************************** 2 Michael Crosby 12 G 3 Sharif Khan 11 G 4 Spencer Birkeland 9 G 5 Kyle Foreman 12 G 10 Gunther Klimes 12 F 11 Javon Jefferson 11 G/F 20 Colin Suter 10 F 21 Christian Singleton 12 F 22 Andrew Kenny 9 G/F 23 Cole Cirillo 11 G 24 Mikey Henn 11 F 32 Zack Moore 12 G/F *************************************************
