This video shows implantation of a toric intraocular lens at the time of cataract surgery. The lens used in this case is an Alcon Toric intraocular lens. This lens will reduce or completely correct corneal astigmatism and give the patient better vision without glasses in most cases. Of interest approximately 1/3 of the population have greater than 1 diopter of astigmatism. When implanting premium intraocular lenses, it is critical for the surgeon to explain the risks, benefits and alternatives of all available intraocular lenses, to best fit the intraocular lens with the patients' needs. Preoperative discussion and planning is critical.
