The song was written by lead singer Ryan Tedder, and produced by Tedder and Noel Zancanella. It was released as the album's third single on June 14, 2013 in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The song has reached great international success, marking one of the band's more successful singles in recent years. It has peaked at number 8 so far on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming their first Top 10 hit since "Good Life" in 2010. It has also topped the charts in the United Kingdom for two non-consecutive weeks and charting within the top ten in nine countries, including attaining top five placements in Australia, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand. The song's accompanying music video, directed by James Lees, features the band performing in a basement beneath an ongoing church congregation.
