This project work will be research-oriented and you will complete it in supervision of a project-supervisor. Please carefully read all the following procedures/due dates for your project, and proceed as directed. 1. All the projects will be opened for selection from 3:30 PM on Monday, May 15, 2023, and the due date for selection will close at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Around 14-15 students will choose one project. Projects will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. 2. Procedure for selecting a Project: Access MTH620 through your VULMS. Click on the ‘Assignments’ tab and you will see a List of Offered Projects/Topics. For each project topic, you can view the project description file and the remaining seats. For projects where seats are still available, you can read their project files to make up your mind about the project you will choose. Once you have decided your choice of project (with seats available), you can then click on the Choose Project button in the last column. You must complete the project selection procedure to be part of a project topic. Please note down that once you have chosen your project, you would need to ask your project Supervisor for any project-related query. Your project Supervisor’s email address is written below the project topic. You must email your supervisor using your VU (Student) email address. You can contact your supervisor from Thursday, May 11, 2023. 3. Group work is allowed in the project. You can work on your project in a group or individually. Your project supervisor will mainly decide on it. The due date for being part of a group is Thursday, May 18, 2023. A maximum of 8 students can join one group. You can send a grouping request to your supervisor project supervisor along with the consent of other group fellows. For unsatisfactory progress or some other issue in a group, your project supervisor can change your status from a group member to an individual. Please note down that you would need to ask your project supervisor for any group-related query. Only your project supervisor can help you in the making of your groups if you have any issue. 4. Assessments: Your project course is of total 100 marks. From the total marks, we will assess your working on the projects with the following breakdown of marks. This breakdown of marks, however, is subject to change. Group Assessment: § Two Assignments = 45 marks § Soft Copy in Correct Format = 5 marks Individual Assessment: § Attendance = 10 marks § Participation = 10 marks § Final Viva = 30 marks 5. Due Dates of Assignments and Final Viva: Your project supervisor will guide you throughout your Assignments and VIVA procedures. Following are the due dates for the two Assignments and the Final Viva dates: Assignment 1 Due Date: Friday, June 12, 2023 Assignment 2 Due Date: Friday, August 03, 2023 Final Viva Dates: August 04 – August 11, 2023 Soft Copy Submission Due Date: Friday, August 11, 2023 6. For any query related to your project, you will contact your project supervisor using your VU (Student) email address. For any general query, you can ask through course MDB and VU Support System. 8. Disclaimer: (i). The Department of Mathematics may change the above-mentioned marks of the project activities and the due dates. (ii).
