Coffee shops, restaurants, and even small businesses are finally having to pay for the toxic culture of tipping they have created. No one is paying the “25% tip” option at the drive through window anymore. Companies make it seem like you’re the bad guy when you don’t tip while they’re pick pocketing from their own workers and have record high profits. This is a broken business model with people who are too dumb to realize they’re being taken advantage of. “Tip creep” is happening literally everywhere now from airport kiosks to movie theaters and everyone is wondering why no genuine service is being provided. Meanwhile payment processor companies like Square and Toast are behind the scenes incentivizing restaurants to increase tip prompts to take a percentage of them. Businesses are underpaying their staff who are struggling to pay rent and it’s pathetic.
