Belle Movie Review - Good Ideas, Bad Execution

Belle is a gigantic mess that I wish was better, because it has a lot of interesting ideas and beautiful production, then utterly squanders them. Belle (2021) science fantasy film written and directed by Mamoru Hosoda and produced by Studio Chizu. It is based on and inspired by the French fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, but pretty specifically the Disney version of if. Or i should say, 1/3 of the movie is based on Beauty and the Beast. This movie has a significant lack of focus on any one plot or theme, and as a result does not explore any of its plots of themes to satisfaction. It does have an extremely bad ending trying to tie a lot of things together and utterly failing to do so though.
