Washington opened the scoring with a John Riggins three yard touchdown run. Soon made it 14-0 with a Joe Theismann 40 yard touchdown pass to Clint Didier. Dallas cut the lead in half when Danny White tossed a 29 yard touchdown pass to Doug Cosbie. As the game moved to the second quarter, Washington led 14-7. Dallas cut the lead to four before halftime following a Rafael Septien 35 yard field goal. In the second half it was all Washington. Theismann tossed a 43 yard touchdown pass to Art Monk extending the lead to 21-10. Riggins scored on a one yard run and Moseley capped the scoring with a 38 yard field goal. Theismann completed 11 of 17 passes for 203 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception, Monk led all receivers with 6 catches for 119 yards and Riggins ran for a game high 89 yards on 27 carries. For Dallas, White finished 20 of 35 for 197 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He was also sacked three times.
