22. We Have to Go / Who to Save?

Luthor sights the uncharted land mass developing near the ship and, after being informed of Brutus death, prepares to escape the yacht with his men via helicopter-after locking Lois and Jason in the ship's pantry. At the Daily Planet Clark and Richard get Lois' fax, and Clark heads for the elevators where he escapes through an elevator shaft and changes into Superman. Heading out to sea, he sights the growing land mass underwater with his X-Ray vision and realizes the fault line is heading toward Metropolis. While Lois makes futile attempts to escape her holding cell, Luthor and his minions fly off the yacht and Superman heads back toward Metropolis. In "Who to Save?" Ottman returns to the propulsive John Williams march material for Superman, providing an exciting accompaniment to Superman's flight out to sea, then pivots to unnerving scoring for Superman's sighting of the underground fault, with choral pulses surging against wavering strings and a subdued treatment of the Williams Lois Lane theme as the Man of Steel realizes he must return to Metropolis first to save the city. A triumphant treatment of Luthor's theme plays as Luthor escapes the yacht with his men.
