Read description for more information or ask in the comments section below. ------ Makoto-Chan (まことちゃん) is a manga series originally published in the Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. Written by Kazuo Umezu, the story follows the adventures of a kindergarten pupil, Makoto Sawada and his family. The manga ran from 1976 to 1981 and was made into an anime in 1980. Makoto-Chan was wildly popular in Japan during those years but didn’t really make it out of the country. Kazuo Umezu (楳図 かずお) is a famous Japanese manga artist born in 1936. Despite Makoto-Chan being in the comedy category, he is renowned for his works in the horror genre. Known as the godfather of Japanese horror manga, he has created many outstanding comics such as “The Cat eyed Boy", "Reptilia" and "The Drifting Classroom". In 2007, neighbours at a Tokyo suburb filed for an injunction against Umezu’s construction of a house inspired by Makoto-Chan. They claimed that the exterior’s red and white stripes and face-shaped tower is an eye sore, damaging the scenery in the neighbourhood.
