Making a leather wallet

Lockdown is a good time to learn new skills. I decided to learn how to make premium leather products and got to work in my spare time. The template of the wallet I’ve been making is based on a Das Offene Meer TopSider design. They recently changed their name to Open Sea Leather’s Topsider. I bought one of these wallets many years ago and I love this design. I’ve made some changes to the original TopSider model. It's slightly wider to accommodate UK pound notes £££, and the stitch is different. The leather is a thicker vegetable tanned hide and sewn together using a blanket stitching. I made these wallets as gifts for our ASHA&Co team with everyone choosing their own colour of thread. Each wallet is embossed with a brass stamp bearing the Steenlore motif and the ASHA&Co signature range robin mascot. The wallets were made from start to finish in approximately 3 weekend afternoons. These are not for sale. I make them for friends and family only. Making things makes us happy.
