In this video, I am doing a 1 Credit Challenge of Metal Hawk for the Arcade. This was supposed to be my run for the Tubers High Score Challenge, but because several players were having issues with the controls for this game, it was unfortunately abandoned. This game was developed and published by Namco, it was released in the arcades in 1988. Metal Hawk was also re-released for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as part of Hamster Corporation's Arcade Archives series on 22nd December in 2022. Metal Hawk is a multi-directional shooter were the player takes control of a titular attack helicopter. This game is described as a cross between Namco's Assault and Sega's Thunder Blade. There are 8 missions in total and the player is tasked with scoring a certain number of points in each level before the countdown timer runs out. The player must to shooting down enemies and avoiding collision with either their projectiles or the ground below. The Metal Hawk is equiped with a machine gun for destroying air-based enemies and air-to-surface missiles for destroying ground-based enemies. The enemies are awarded with points when you destroy them and earning the required number of points and if the player successful reaching the total points in each mission, you will progress to the next level. An arrow icon will point in the direction of the nearest enemy. Let's talk about the controls for Metal Hawk, when you're playing on a gamepad via MAME Arcade Emulator. The 8-way directional button is easy to understand, as well as the machine gun and the ground missiles. The Metal Hawk can change its altitude when you're using the right shoulder button to go either rise higher into the air or lower towards the ground, which is used for destroying air and ground-based enemies. (Source: Wikipedia). I am playing Metal Hawk on default settings and I needed to put two credits to start the game and see how far I can get in one go. About my run on Metal Hawk: The game can be frustrating at times when it comes to the controls on MAME, but when I found out how the controls work, it was doable. Especially the altitude on the right shoulder button to go up or down for this game. I got game over at mission 7, but I did enjoyed it. Even though the controls were giving me trouble at first, Metal Hawk is a fun multi-directional shooter game from Namco and I really like it. The music in this game is amazing, especially the first song when the game starts in the first level. Although it's not an easy game, mainly because of the controls on a gamepad. But still a good game! If you haven't played this game before, I recommend to give it a try! Whether it's on MAME or modern systems like: Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. I hope you enjoyed this 1 Credit Challenge video of Metal Hawk for the Arcade and thanks for watching! #MetalHawk #Arcade #1CreditChallenge
