I recently purchased a 1914 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe Jackson card and for the sake on appearance and uniformity with my collection I want to crack it out of its SGC holder and submit it to PSA. Before I risk ruining one of the rarest baseball cards in existence I talk about the significance of the card culturally as well as to my 100 PC (personal collection) Card Case. I also touch on why the card is rare and who Joe Jackson is and why I find him fascinating to collect. This card is the merging of two significant pieces of baseball pop culture. It is the marriage and embodiment of the song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" as well as the movie "Field of Dreams." If you don't want to listen to the history of this card simply fast forward to the 11:20 mark to witness one of the most expensive "card case crackings" of all time. Please note that this is not an indictment against SGC. The "TPG" (Third Party Grader) you use and collect is a personal opinion and choice. I have great respect for their brand and quality. It is just that their modern case is not how I want to store this particular card. Also note that buying sports cards (especially if cracking their protective "slab") is an extremely risky investment. Do not buy any cards that are outside of your budget and please understand all of the downside potential for any "investment." Always do your own research and don't listen to some clown (like me) for sports card advice. Thank you to my friend David for filming the case breaking as well as educating me on this set in the first place.
