Top tips for what to do when a client turns against you- with Lenka Lutonska

A couple of weeks ago I was supporting one of my clients with a rather delicate, and hurtful, situation. One of her clients who, up to that point, she had had a meaningful coaching relationship with, suddenly ‘turned against her’. The said person requested a refund for coaching, saying that it wasn’t working for them, that they didn’t resonate with my client’s coaching style, and that they had signed up for it for the wrong reasons. Ouch. 😕 This kind of situation can evoke a whole lot of insecurities in ourselves. I recall one of my ex-clients sharing that this kind of experience had left her hurting, and sabotaging the growth in her coaching business for almost 2 years! That is a very, very long time to ‘pay the price’ for the dissatisfaction of a client. And it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, this type of situation has the potential for accelerating growth for both the client and the coach. Yes, it CAN be a massive gift (in ugly packaging of course) IF we are able to recognise that gift.
