Beautiful Drives: Slaidburn to Abbeystead

Slaidburn is a small village in Bowland Forest, part of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. This is the short journey from Slaidburn to Abbeystead, another small hamlet. There is a mix of roads on this route, some rolling country side on typical B roads, others single track road with passing places as you climb through small valleys and moor land with the roads accompanied by the occasional river. Expect sheep to be roaming, sometimes ducks especially as you go through Dunsop Bridge, itself a pretty small village and pheasant. Not as challenging as the journey from High Bentham to Slaidburn, this is none the less a beautiful countryside journey of contrasts.
