Between 9th August 2007 and 10th August 2008, special festivities were held in Vittoriosa to commemorate the 1750th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Lawrence, Patron Saint of the city. These celebrations extended beyond Vittoriosa, as the Catholic Church worldwide also marked the occasion, given St. Lawrence’s popularity and his role as Co-Patron of Rome. A group of voluntary young men, known as Levita Martri, organized monthly activities throughout the festive year from a house located close to the Collegiate of St. Lawrence. The group was led by Mro. Andrew Lawrence Zarb. This Video presents the first part of two, showcasing the work and events held in Levita Martri House. During this commemorative year, professional exhibitions were held, reaching their climax during the main feast days of St. Lawrence. The highlight was the blessing and inauguration of a new devotional statue of the Patron Saint. The ceremony was inaugurated by Vittoriosa Mayor John Boxall and blessed by H.E. Mons.
