Fort Yargo State Park is a beautiful state park located between Atlanta and Athens, Georgia in Winder, Georgia. The park opened in 1954 and is named after Fort Yargo which can be found across from the Visitors Center. This was one of the four forts built in the area by the Humphries brothers to protect early settlers from the Indians. This park is full of some neat history and has many recreational activities and accommodations. This is a great place to hike, bike, kayak, canoe, play disc golf, and more.
