Nomadic Life Update: October in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada

This week in Jasper, we spent a busy work and school week camping in the National Park. The evenings are getting darker earlier so we took what daylight we could to explore and evenings to check out the town. Sadly, the fire that blazed through last year really devastated the whole area and even parts of the town. Jasper is still so beautiful and the town is resilient and holding up. In a longer segment, we might post some of the aftermath and how it breaks our hearts to see nature and people impacted. The forest is seeming to grow through the burn scars and the town rebuilding what was lost.  Mixed weather off and on through the week, bringing inconsistent rain, sun, warm and cold each day. We mixed in a few hikes between work, a scenic drive out to the hot springs and enjoying the elk wandering through camp each day, we also spent a fair amount of time in town checking out the brewery, all the trinket shops and trying the countless pastries at every corner. Hailey found a Scotch Lounge by evening and Bakery shop by day so we thought we'd see it at both ends of the spectrum. The laundromat was one of the best we've seen with an awesome coffee shop and comfy lounge area in which we were patrons of both before heading out of town. After the work week, we left Jasper, heading South with a stop to check out the falls and grab a quick Canadian lunch (poutine!) before heading in to the Northern part of Banff where we planned to camp for the evening at the Columbia Icefields. The snow started hitting hard as we were making our way and we rushed to get to the Icefields Camp spot before the evening, knowing it would dump snow! We are the only people here tonight braving the cold and the blizzard. I'm looking forward to waking up to a ton of fresh snow!
