This video features Sudanese Sufi spiritual chants, performed live in Canada. It reflects how African-rooted sacred sound naturally flourishes in North America. Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammad ﷺ. The chants are composed by Shaykh Muḥammad ʿUthmān ʿAbduh al-Burhānī and are performed here in a Sudanese style deeply familiar to North American ears shaped by African musical heritage. The video features the singing and commentary of poet and scholar Dr Jason Idriss Sparkes. It was filmed live during Sufi Sounds 2025 in Kitchener, Ontario, organized by Wilfrid Laurier University’s Sufi Circle, and again two nights later during a gathering with many beloved shaykhs—ncluding Ali Elsayed, Shelby Haque, Dawud Surillo, Taras Hollyer, Nicholas Hussein Jaussaud, and Omar Bin Dagher—held in the presence of our esteemed host, Shaykh Nezar, in Mississauga, Canada (November 2025). These call-and-response chants follow a classical Sufi form: each verse is sung by the lead voice, and the entire zāwiya responds with the refrain after every line. Inspired by the Qurʾān and Sunna, the lyrics express praise for the Beloved ﷺ. @jasonidrisssparkes6549 Chapters 0:00 Opening 0:09 A Few Words 1:42 Sallu ala al-Nabi! 9:22 Channel Intro 9:33 Sufi Groove 11:26 Share the Love 🎧 Explore the full Sufi Songs playlist: • My Sufi Songs & Poems Similar artists and inspiring channels: @ShaykhAliElsayed @Noor_AlMohebin @samiyusuf @AlFirdausEnsemble @barakablue @asrisimohamed @MadihSamaaSoufie @rhoumelbakkali7641 @BurdahEnsemble @TariqaBurhaniya @beautyandislamictheology8572 @ElCanaldePaloma @LetsTalkReligion This channel speaks especially to those who walk the path of beauty and tradition.
