Another detour in our discussion of neuroanatomy: in this video, we will discuss the ear! We will talk about the structure and anatomy of the ear, as well as the physiology of how it transmits sound and how it plays a role in balance. After understanding the anatomy of the ear, we will then move on to pathology of the ear. We start with pathology of the vestibular system, the system that deals with balance. These lead to vertigo and include: Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo Meniere's Disease After that, we will discuss general pathology of the ear, including the common: Otitis externa Otitis media Cholesteatoma Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Done with the detour, let's get back to neuro anatomy!
